NFL Wild Card: Washington Redskins 18 Green Bay Packers 35 recap and analysis

Green Bay started with the ball producing nothing on the first drive and the second has been a completely disastrous giving up 2 points on a safety thanks to the sack of Preston Smith who beat the LT Tretter with a bull run, Washington got the ball on their own 30, the home team moved the ball so well on the ground and especially on the air with very well designed routes, they came an half yard short of scoring when Jackson crossed the pile with the foot and stepped out of bounds without crossing the end zone line with the football, they had three more tries to go into the end zone but they failed thanks to a great goaline stand by the Packers, the result of the drive have been just 3 points for them. The Redskins redeemed themselves on the first drive of the second quarter when Cousins found his rhythm and moved the move so well down field, Reed scored a 24 yards receiving TD faking a post route running a deep seem beating one on one Hyde but Hopkins missed the extra point hitting the right post. Trailing 11-0 the Packers reacted and Rodgers put up his first convincent drive of the game moving the ball on the air with short routes like comebacks, slants, out, ecc. once on the Redskins 13 yard line Rodgers on a free play extended thanks to his scrambling skills found Cobb in the middle of the end zone for their first TD of the game. Packers defense stepped up and a strip sack by OLB Neal let Cousins lose the ball recovered by the cheese heads that opened up a 3 points drive for them, Green Bay not happy to trail by 1 scored another TD at the end of the first half thanks to a great connection between Rodgers and Adams who made 2 key receptions, the second one a 17 harder for a receiving TD in the back of the end zone after he was aligned in the slot beating the man to man coverage of the nickel corner.
The Redskins got back on track at the beginning of the second half thanks to a very good balanced drive, Morris north-south runs and Cousins short passes kept guessing the entire Packers defenses they marched easy down field and once close to the end zone a very well designed QB draw let Cousins score untouched his first rushing TD of the day. Green Bay didn't waste any time to react to it and this time they did it on the ground, everything started close to midfield where the visitors faced a 4th and 1 converted by Lacy with a stretch run on the weak side for a big play and on the following play he did the same again with the same result taking his team close to the end zone where Starks scored on a toss run on the right side. The Packers extended their lead on their following drive with another rushing TD, this time Lacy scored on an inside run play from the shotgun and also they converted by 2 thanks to an Aberderris reception in the middle of the end zone , that has been a rare shotgun play after a drive that saw them on the I formation where they had very good results on both running and passing game. With 5 minutes left in the game trailing by 14 the Redskins tried to convert a 4th and 10 on their own 20 yard line but they failed it due to the sack on Cousins that ended their chances to advance on this playoffs and that sent Green Bay to Arizona for the divisional round.
