NFL Wild Card 2016: Houston Texans vs KC Chiefs keys, edges and pre-game analysis

HOUSTON TEXANS

- Joseph coverage 1 on 1 against Maclin will be so important especially on play actions where the former Eagle is more dangerous down field
- Allign Watt in all 3 line's positions to create missmatches
- Kelce if not covered by Cushing will need a double cover because Smith often goes to him in 3rd down conversions' tries
- Hoyer will need to find other targets than Hopkins because he will covered by pro bowler CB Peters and maybe doubled up, also with the great KC's pass rushing core Hoyer will have to release the ball quickly
- Keep guessing Chiefs' OLBs with play actions and screens

Key Players

- Hoyer
- Watt

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

- Double team Watt EVERY DOWN!
- Run more on weak side to force Mercilus to play more committed to the runs and less on pass rushing  also to stay away from Watt who probably will work more as a LE
- Play "safely" on offense, it means don't try to make big plays and risk TOs because Houston struggle on offense and great field postion along with TDs by defense should make their game a way easier
- Berry will not have his hands occupied so much against the runs so he should help over the top especially against Hopkins
- Massive blitzes even counting the weak o-line of Houston due to some injuries

Key Players

- Kelce
- Peters
