1st Period PIT 2 SJ 0
The first 10 minutes the game has been funny due to the open way to play by both teams with decent scoring chances but everything changed after the Penguins power play where they have been able to shoot twice on goal due to a rebounding pucks that left free Hagelin and Kessel, at the end of it they continue ti play with an offensive mentality that let them be effective on forecheck, something that initiated the play of their first goal that saw Kunitz recover a puck passing it to Schultz who shot on goal and opened up an empty enter by Rust on the rebounding puck that came off Jones' save, Exactly one minute later the home team doubled his advantage with a great breakaway initiated by Maata's all ice pass to Crosby who received the puck on the left slot and who made an outstanding back handed pass to Sheary who beat Jones with a perfect wrist shot, they continue to put in huge trouble their rivals forcing them to stay on their own defensive zone with their forechecking and puck movement once they got the puck in their possession.
2nd Period PIT 2 SJ 2
The Sharks reaction didn't wait to come, in fact it arrived 3 minutes into the second period on a power play kept alive on the blue line by Thornton then Burns gave a perfect pass to Hertl who beat Murray from the goal crease to cut the lead just to one goal. San Josè dominated the follow few minutes shooting on goal so many times without been able to tie the game, the period became a lil bit quite in matter of scoring chances because both teams had issues to establish the possession of the puck in the offensive zone so they started a battle in the neutral zone for the possess of it. The visitors took advantage of a mental mistake by the Pens who has been lazy on a circle play by the first line of the Sharks who arrived to shot easly with Burns from the blue line and on the rebound Marleau beat Murray on a back hander from behind the net with less than 2 minuted left in the period.
3rd Period PIT 3 SJ 2
With the game tied at 2 both teams have been more cautious to attack especially to avoid dangerous breakaways, even on power plays both teams haven't been able to create important scoring chances, the rest of the period continue like that until the Penguins pushed a puck behind Sharks' net where Letang won the battle for it making a perfect assist to Bonino who beat on a one timer Jones for what resulted in the game winning goal because the Pens rejected every Sharks' try to tie the game especially when they had the extra-skater.
