UFC Fight Night: Bigfoot vs Mir recap, analysis and ratings

Ponzinibbio vs Strickland: C, Winner Ponzinibbio by unanimous decision 30-27 winning every round, he also kept the control of the match being aggressive with his striking. The match has been fought all time with boxe punches and both fighters seemed to avoid the grabbling situations and also to fight on the ground where the latin american fighter should have a good advantage due to his black belt of brasilian jujitsu.

Alacantara vs Saenz: D, Winner Saenz by unanimous decision with a big upset to number 8 Alcantara who lost the match due to the Saenz' dominance on wrestling situations, after a 1st round characterized by striking moves the American fighter tried to take it to the ground with a good success that gave him an important win.

Khabilov vs Martins: E, Martins by split decision in a boring match with not so many active situations and with too many studing ones, even the ground fight hasn't been an exciting one due to a lack of good technics.

Ferreira vs Alvey: C, Alvey by KO came After an elettric left hand punch under the chin in the 1st round, the match has been played exclusively on standing striking where Alvey controlled and won it.

Barboza vs Johnson: D+, Johnson by unanimous decision, even if they fought standing up all match long where on the paper Barboza has a good advantage due to his high level of Thai boxe but Johnson matched it up great keeping the control of the octagon for the most part of the fight and this is the main reason why he won a the end of the 3 rounds.
Bigfoot vs Mir: N.C. Winner Mir with a Quick KO at 1st round due to a left over hand and the following ground and pound punches that closed the match out. Even if Silva if a better striker than Mir he has been dominated and he shown such a disappoint resistence to the hits

NHL: Chicago Blackhawks 2 Detroit Red Wings 3 OT recap and analysis

After the typical National anthem singed by Jim Cornelius the game with Tatar who came close to score capitalizing a Chicago's turnover, the Blackhawks reacted with a pair of very good chances Well saved by Howard. After some quite minutes the Red Wings got their 1st PP of the game due to a Bickell's slashing penalty, the Blackhawks penalty killers got the job done and Right After the end of it Chicago got the man advantage and they had some good chances due to a very good puck movement but they didn't score on it. The quarter end keeping a good rhythmym but it didn't let both team to produce scoring chances. Chicago continue to keep the puck on the offensive zone and this forced Howard to make some very good stops from very close distance especially against Shaw and Kane. The Blackhawks momentum continued with Toews who went so close to score with a shot coming from behind the net but he failed to put it even without Howard to cover the angle. Tatar changed the momentum of the game with the 1st goal of it scoring on open net thanks to a perfect back hand assist by Helm but Detroit didn't have the time to cheer because in less than a minute Saad scored a slap shot's goal from the high circle to tie the game. The 3rd period 1st minutes saw Detroit have the control of the puck and the better chances Till the 2nd penalty of the game by Abdelkader that gave the Blackhawks a PP with 11:30 left in the 3rd period but they haven't been able to estabilish the possession on the offensive zone due to the great Red Wings forecheck. With 2:06 left Detroit scored the go ahead goal with Helm on a back hand shot provocated by a turnover recovered by Datsiyuk but again Chicago tied the game immediately on a Versteeg shot from the high circle luckly rebounded on Kronwall's shoulder then entered into the net to send the game to the OT. The OT has been like the game, very intense and full of scoring chances but also with very good defenses and goalie and so the game went to Shootouts where Detroit won 2-1 thanks to Tatar and Nyquist along with an excellent Howard to cover the net.
This has been a very intense typical rivarly game between those 2 historical franchises characterized by 2 very good overall defenses who ruled the game, Chicago in my opinion is a better offensive team than Detroit and they proved it with the majority of the scoring chances but the Red Wings answered back with a great performance by the goalie Howard.
My 3 stars of the game go to: 3rd Tatar another solid game with a goal and the game winning shootout. 2nd Howard excellent performance by him all game long saving his team a lot of times. 1st Helm with an assist and a goal aloong with a very important presence on the ice especially on offense.

NHL: LA Kings 3 TB Lightning 2 recap and analysis

The game started with a good intensity and TB got the 1st PP of the game due to a Clifford's high Stick penalty but the Lighting didn't have any chance thanks to the Great forecheck. After some very fighted minutes Carter had 2 chances in the same possession but Vasiliyevsky stopped both attempts, the Kings continued to impose their physicality in front of TB's net trying to Find a deflection to score, Nesterov scored on a counterattack After a rebound in front of Quick luckly stayed there after a clear attempt by a Kings defenseman and he shot the puck under the crossbar being aknowledge that Quick was down in the ice. LA tried to tie the game with long distance shot especially from Daughty's stick, their numerous tries produced a PP with 1 minute left in the 1st period. The 2nd period started with the Kings on the man advantage but they haven't been able to score, TB reacted to the LA pressure and they Did it with long distance shots that forced Quick to make some good stops. The Kings tied the game with Kopitar on a fastbreak goal 1 on 1 against Vasiliyevsky with a very precise shot that left no chance to the goalie. LA tried to score again and they came close to do that with Carter and Brown but Vasiliyevsky made 2 very good saves to keep the game tie. The Kings continue ti be in control and their defensemen made a remarkable job to Enter in the offensive zone eluding the Lighting's forecheck. LA's pressure paid off forcing TB to committ a penalty with 4:40 left to play in 2nd period but even if they had a very good control and movement of the puck they didn't score on it. The 2nd period ended with TB on a man advantage and in a complete tie. The 3rd period started continuing the game trend of very good penalty killing and Right After the PP ends Jordan Nolan scored the game ahead goal on a very good back hand shot After a very Well  play by the 4th line. With 11:20 left in the 3rd period Nesterov commited a roughing penalty on Toffoli but even they had 2 good chances on it the Lighting's penalty killers got the job done. With 6 minutes left in the game Jeff Carter scored a goal in a snap shot from the low circle capitalizing a perfect assist by Doughty. Lighting's reaction came a lil bit too late with the Tyler Johnson's goal from the goal crease with just 36 seconds left in the game because it didn't give the time to the to score the game tying goal.
LA played like champs and even if TB played a tough game they haven't been able to beat the Kings that are one of the best team in the NHL at home and who recently are playing so well put togheter 5 straight win 2 of them against the Lighting that can be satisfied by the Californian trip thus far. The Kings after a difficult start played so physical and they literally took away Stamkos from the game and this has been a good boost to win the game, on the other side TB got a good performance by the backup goalie  Vasiliyevsky but they haven't been able to stop the Kings playmakers who provided good chance to their teammates.
My 3 stars of the game are: 3rd Nolan who played tough as alway but he has been dangerous even on offense scoring a goal something that he recently done in more than an occasion, 2nd Carter he is a sniper and he made his job in this game been dangerous in more than an occasion and scoring even the game winning goal, 1st Doughty in my opinion the best defenseman in the game right now and a continuous playmaker who has been able to bring the puck into the offensive zone so many times.

NFL: season's rating and considerations team by team

AFC East

Buffalo Bills: B+, in my opinion a very good season for them, if it wouldn't be for that awful loss in Oakland they would play in playoffs, they shown an awesome defense against both runs and passes and despite the tough absences in HB position during the season Orton have been able to lead his offense to sufficient result to beat teams like the Packers and the Lions, the had a 9-7 record facing a very tough schedule

Miami Dolphins: C-,  after a very good start of the season the Dolphins didn't continued it and they failed again to reach the post season, they show an elite defense against the pass especially with Wake, Vernon on pass rushing and with Grimes, Delmas on their secondary but they had some problems against the running game. On offense Tannehill has not been continuous and Mike Wallace continued to be a bad sign for them the good part has been the o-line and the improvements shown by HB Miller

New England Patriots: A+, awful start of the season then nearly unstoppable due to a very good defense lead by Revis and all the new stars like Collins and Hightower with their improvement the let them win the SB along with a precise and avoiding turnovers offense lead by Brady who played on his usual standard after the o-line fixed their problems. This has been an awesome season for them not only because they won the SB but also because they are the youngest team ever to do it

New York Jets: D, another disappointing season for them that cost the job to coach Ryan but in my opinion the 4-12 record and all the bad losses are not only his fault in fact the front office didn't provide to the team a decent offense especially on QB position in fact Smith proved that he doesn't deserve the starting spot and the biggest mistake of Ryan has been to not give a real chance to Vick giving him just sporadical spots, the defense especially against the runs has been good has everything happen with Ryan's defenses. I think also that Johnson deserved more runs, he still a very good HB but as the same of Vick he hasn't been able to prove his skills due to the limited space left to him

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens: B, good regular season being one of the best team on the ground on both offense and defense even due to the add of Forsett who had a career year, even the S.Smith acquisition has been very good for them  but they had high problems against the passes even having one of the best duo of pass rushers Suggs and Dumervil. Flacco made very good playoffs but in the regular season he shown he has been paid too much being inconsistent in the most part of key part of the games including the divisional vs the Pats where they have been eliminated due to the 4th quarter offensive collapse

Pittsburgh Steelers: B-, they shown a very good offensive improvement especially on the ground with the explosion of Bell who has been great all season long and his absence had an huge impact on their elimination at Wild Card game. Their defense has been one of the weakest in all LeBeau era due to of the age of the secondary who is getting older an older but the good front 7 lead by Timmons limited the damages for them.

Cleveland Browns: C, after a very good 1st half of the season they seemed to could reach a playoffs' spot but their passing game who managed well the team in that winning period along with a very good defense especially against the pass and a reliable running game, started to make too many turnovers and even with Manziel they haven't been able to a win a game in their last 5 of the season. The 7-9 season without Gordon for the most part of the season should be considered not a bad one but the very good start and the easy schedule change this consideration

Cincinnati Bengals: C-, as always they have been very good in regular season even with the help of an easy schedule but has everything happened in Dalton's era they didn't win any playoffs game, Dalton struggled all season long and the question marks are becoming a lot of on him, the found a very good HB in Hill at his 1st season who improved so much their running game but the defense due to the departure of RE Johnson struggled so much to do sacks and this fact had ripercussions of the total performance of the entire defense

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts: A-, counting the injuries and the defense ranking before the season's start they arrived a way more far then everyone thought arriving in the championship game lost against the Pats, the achievement of this great result has been made thanks to thievery good passing game lead by Luck and Hilton, a good o-line who provided good protection to their QB and a very good effort by the entire defense.

Jacksonville Jaguars: C+, yes they finished 3-13 but they have a very young team and they shown very good improvements and even on some losses especially on the 2nd part of the season they fighted hard and provide that they could have a very good future if they will be able to develop some of them, the best youngsters in my opinion have been: HB Robinson, WR Hurns, DT Marks and WR Shorts III.

Tennessee Titans: E, this season have been full of problems offensively where they couldn't rely on any QB who played this season and defensively where they changed from the 4-3 to the 3-4 and this provided huge problems especially to stop the runs, the mix of those problems let them win just 3 games playing bad football all season long

Houston Texans: B-, they finished 9-7 and they failed the playoffs due to the tie breaker in favor of the Ravens, they missed the 1st overall pick Clowney for the most part of the season and counting the skills of their QB Fitzpatrick they done a very good result and this has been possible due to the good defense especially against the runs and even on the offense they have been so good on the ground, most of the defense's results hen achieved thanks to JJ Watt the defensive player of the year and in my opinion even the MVP because he scored even 5 receiving TD on offense that along with 20.5 sacks put him on the history of the NFL

AFC West

San Diego Chargers: C+, the 9-7 record and the failure to reach playoffs have been such a disappointing result for them but the arguably the most difficult schedule in the league and the tons of key injury they suffered make it a lil less worse, the most disappointing thing has been the loss in KC against the Chiefs full of injuries and lead by Daniels. The offense has been very limited by the o-line's injuries and defense has been solid but shown some problems against the no huddle offense and the inside powerful runs

Denver Broncos: B-, great start of the season due to a very improved defense and the same awesome offense lead by Manning but the last month of the season has been awful and the meltdown continued to the divisional game where they have been eliminated by the Colts, everything that wouldn't be a ring would be considered a failure by this team and the elimination on the divisional game have been an hard one

Oakland Raiders: E, this has been another disastrous season for them but the main difference between this and the other recent seasons has been that this year they seemed to have found an interesting QB for the future in Carr and also a good ROLB in Mack that should have a good future and so upgrade the team giving the bases to build something good around them and this is what the Raiders need and they haven't been able to find in recent years

KC Chiefs: B-, KC has been one of the team heavly conditionated by the injuries especially on defense with Johnson and DeVito along with Barry at the end of the season, on offense they have been great on running game but so poor on passing game with Kelce as the only decent receiver in the season not having a single WR with a TD and i think that has been a factor that kept them out of playoffs but with a good 9-7 record

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys: A+. awesome season for them counting that they have been eliminated in the divisional game due to a bad call by the refs and most of all a lot of people at the beginning of the season thought that they would finish with 3 or 4 wins but thanks to a great improvement of the o-line came along with the add of rookie RG Martin who has been great for Murray's runs and also they provided to Romo the protection that he often miss, the defense against the runs has nbot been bad but the one against the pass has been awful all season long

Philadelphia Eagles: A-, 10-6 having their starting QB out for the most part of the season??? yes they did they let Sanchez play as a starter and he managed well the team for the 1st 3-4 starts then he screwed everything up throwing interception over interceptions, the biggest motivations why they have been able to get 10 win (but unfortunately for them miss the playoffs) have been the very good running game, a decent defense with the great quality of scoring on turnovers and the best special teams in the league who provided always great field positions and even TDs!

Washington Redskins: D-, they did worse then last year due to the lack in QB position and the hard truth of RGIII bad choice in draft and also Cousins has been mediocre forcing them to let McCoy play, Morris provided again another good year on the ground and DeSean Jackson played very well when he has been targeted, on defensive side the only good player that i would keep is LOLB Kerrigan along with Orakpo IF he could stay healty something that he didn't this year

NY Giants: D+, most of their 6 wins came at the end of the year in garbage games (without any meaning) they has problems in every department with the exception of the WR role where they had Cruz and once he got injured they discovered then great talent of rookie Odell Beckham Jr. Manning wasted too many possessions due to the interceptions and the bad decisions that he took. On defense they had an old secondary and the Amukamara injury has been a bad loss for them and along with the departure of Tuck the pass rush has not been the same counting that J Pierre Paul struggled in last 2 season even due to the injuries

NFC North

Detroit Lions: B+, the controversial call vs Dallas in the Wild card game where they ended their season leave me a lil bit frustrated because with their defense (the best against the runs) along with an offense full of great players like Megatron Bush and along with the surprising Tate and Joique Bell they should do very good.

GB Packers: A, bad start but awesome middle-final part of the season till the last 2 minutes of the championship game where they did everything they could od to lose that game, on offense they have been the best team in the NFL of course with their passing game lead by Rodgers but also on the ground with a tough HB like Lacy, on defense they had some issues to stop the runs but Matthews fixed that playing some MLB even thanks to the arrive of Peppers who provided great pass rushing and energy on his new role as OLB

Chicago Bears: E, nothing has been good for them in this season just Forte has been a reliable player all year long, Cutler played so bad and made so many turnovers that he has been removed from his starter role at the end of the season, on defense they struggle in every department and the absence of Briggs and Tillman have been huge

Minnesota Vikings: C+, they had a 7-9 season without Peterson all season long and they let play a very young team, on offense they have been decent rotating 2-3 HB in the backfield and with some good performances by Bridgewater during the final part of the season, on defense they shown some very good stuffs especially for the future in fact their 2 best players have been the youngsters FS Smith and the LOLB Barr

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons: D, so much talent on offense and a poor defense especially against the passes where due to a young secondary and an absence of pass rushers they have been one of the worst in the NFL and the last home loss against the Panthers that cost them the playoffs has been a perfect pic of what they have done all season long, they arrived so many times close to the win but they never closed it out

NO Saints: E, the worst disaster in NO since Katrina, a team built to win the SB in a such a weak division who finish 7-9 is unacceptable, on offense the poor WR core let the opponents double cover Graham lots of times and this reduced his production so much, on defense the only thing that worked well has been the pass rushers because especialòly the defense gainst the runs has been like butter all season long providing so many issues to the secondary

TB Buccaneers: E, another disappointing season for them especially on offense where everyhing that didn't have Evans wirte on the jersey didn't work and this put under huge pressure their defense that in my opinion is good but didn't get good result due to the extended time that they needed to pass on the field

Carolina Panthers: B-, after a very slow 1st half of the season with Newton underfire for the turnovers and the absence of Hardy the team played a way better especially the defense that returned to be a factor in their game and this let them play the divisional game in Seattle where they have bene eliminated but they shown a very good defense

NFC West

STL Rams: C+, they played all season long without Bradford and the 6-10 record with such a diffucult schedula has been a remarkable results for them especially with a very young team, on offense they rotated so well 23 back with Mason as their starter with good results and on defense they had an impressive front 7 lead by all rookie Donald and the veterans Laurinaitis and Long once healty, against the passes they shown some improvements but they have been good as against the runs

SF 49ers: C, after 3 straight championship and 1 SB the finished just 8-8, their defense played all year long without Willis and Bowman but either way they finished 3rd in the NFL finding in MLB Borland a very good player and even the SS Bethea had a remarkable season, on offense they seemed to be better than the last year due to the arrive of Johnson and Lloyd but Kaepernick had a very disappointing season and along with Gore's age they haven't been able to be effective

Seattle Seahawks: A, after a slow start the won 10 straight game and they have been the same solid team that won the SB the year before and they would do the same if it wouldn't be for the unfamous Carroll's call in the last play of the SB, the only department that they downgraded in has been the receiving core due to the departure of Tate and Harvin

AZ Cardinals: A, 11-5 record playing with their 2nd and 3rd QB, without Dockett, without Ellington and Washington for me it's an amazing result, they had offensive issues but their defense has been amazing especially against the run where their 3-4 played so aggressive on the line of scrimmage and the bad number against the passes has been a consequence of that aggressivness that by the way kept them alive for the 1st seed until the lastgame of the season, unfortunately for the their season ended in the wild card game against the Panthers due a total offensive blackout

NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins 4 Detroit Red Wings 1 recap and analysis

With a very fast start the Pengs scored with less then 2 minutes played in the game and they did that thanks to a Great puck movement that brought Letang to shot then the puck rebounded on the let Hornqvist to score from the left part of the goal line Catching Mrazek by surprise. Pittsburgh went close to score again but Smith stopped their try with an hooking penalty who let the Pengs to have the 1st PP of the game where they had a good control of the puck but they didn't have important chances to score. After some minutes without scoring chances the Penguins scored again capitalizing a Kronwall's mistake behind the net with Hornqvist who stole the possession of the puck and put it in front of the net for Comeau who scored on a snap shot. For all the rest of the period Pittsburgh controlled the game and continued to have the only chances in the game. In the 2nd period the things didn't change and this time the hustling and the forechecking that let Perron to score from the goal crease. Few minutes later they completed the poker with a Great flying deflection from the circle by Spaling on a Scuderi's shot from the blue line. Detroit finally got a PP with 7 minutes left in the 2nd period and they used so Well the man advantage that let Weiss score their 1st goal of the game. The Pengs reacted gaining a PP with 4 minutes remaining in the period but this time the Red Wings penalty killers made a good job prevented any opponents chance to score. The 3rd period started with the Red Wings in the aggressive mode trying to comeback and on the 1st 10 minutes they dominated keeping an high pace and they got some good chances to score especially with Tatar 1 on 1 vs Fleury who continued his remarkable performance. Since that Detroit slew down a lil bit and Pittsburgh regain the control of the game and they did it til the end of the game.
Very well deserved win for the Penguins who attacked the game right from the beginning vs a Red Wings team who have never been able to react and to play their game, of course the early deficit to overcome didn't helped them at all, the battle of the goalies has been won hands down by an awesome Fleury who continued his very positive trend. Pittsburgh has been so complete in this game playing not only with the same great talent but also they shown very good forechecking and physicality.

NHL: STL Blues 2 Chicago Blackhawks 4 recap and analysis

After a very fast start by the Blues the Blackhawks reacted and they score the 1st goal of the game in a Kruger's wrist shot from the circle on a Well managed 2 on 1 after the assist of Carcillo who supported him for all the play. After the goal the game became very physical and an eccess of it by Ryan Reaves gave the Blackhawks a PP opportunity with 11:30 left in the 1st period but even if they kept a good possession they didn't score. Since that penalty the game has become frenetic with lots of shots on goal by both teams and Toews for Chicago and Schwartz for STL had 2 huge chance to score but both goalies played Great and denied everything but the 1st goal. With less than 2 minutes left STL got a PP for delay of the game but they haven t been able to produce good scoring. The blues had a good chance on a 2 on 1 with Tarasenko but Crawford moved Right to left so fast that he denied the goal, good reaction by the Blackhawks that with Sharp on a counterattack 1 on 1 vs Elliott he missed the net. After so many tries STL tied the game due to an offensive turnover by Chicago who let Schwartz pass the puck to Terasenko 1 on 1 vs Crawford who has been fooled by the awesome hand skills of the Blues player. After 6 minutes the Blackhawks regain the lead with a Bickell who score a goal on a rebounded puck that hasn't been see by the Blues defenders After the Elliott's stop. Immediate has been the answer by the Blues who tied again the game on a Backes wrist shot very close to the goaline on the right side of the net right After a good save by Crawford on Oshie. With 2 minutes left Hjalmarsson got close to score the go ahead goal with a snap shot from the middle part of the ice. After 9 very intense minutes in the last period Tarasenko made another very good play dribbling 2 opponents but he fell into the ice before been able to shot, Chicago reacted forcing the Blues to commit a penalty and on the following PP they scored a PPG with Hossa After a very good puck movement with some cross ice passes. Chicago continue to attack and they had 2 good chance to score, 1 with Saad on back hand an the other with Sharp on a slap shot from the low circle. STL didn't stay to watch and with a Great play by Oshie they built a very good chance for Steen who tried to ho short side but Crawford saved it. With 14 seconds left in the game Hossa scored a empty net goal to close the game out in favor of his team.
This has been such an interesting and pleasurable game to watch thanks to the great intensity and skills expressed by both teams during all the game, this game has been an hard fighted and balanced one and both teams played a complete
game being effective in every department of the game being aggressive and smart at the same time, we saw a very fast game full of great plays especially by the singles who created a sort of sequences of scoring chances made by fast break attack and counterattacks. in my opinion the 3 stars of the game are: 3rd Tarasenko who scored a goal and also shown very good hand skills with spectacular dribbles, 2nd Crawford who reacted very well in lots of occasions and provided a reliable security for the net all game long despite the high rhythms of it. 1st Hossa who played normally in the 1st 2 periods but he scored 2 in the 3rd one included the game winning one.

NHL: Florida Panthers 3 LA Kings 2 recap and analysis

After 1 minute and a half Carter had the 1st chance of the game trying a tap in after an uncontrolled rebound in front of Luongo that made the 2nd Great stop to avoid to allow the 1st goal. Bjustad had the 1st chance for his team with the 1st shot of the game for his team in the game taking advantage of a miss handled puck by the Kings but Quick made a nice save. Carter continued to be the most dangerous on the ice with a blue line shot dangerously redirected by a Florida d-man and very good stopped by Luongo, around the half way of the 1st period Florida scored 1st with Barkov on a very Well managed 2 on 1 by Boyes who provided the primary assist. After the goal the Kings appeared very confused and in the following 3 minutes it has been an escalation of Panthers scoring chances. With 4 minutes McBain tied the game with an high slap shot after a Great Brown cross ice pass result of a very good puck movement, a minute later the Kings went into a PP but they haven't been able to capitalize it. The 2nd period started in a very fast and physical way and the game became a way more exciting and interesting, as it happened in the 1st period the Panthers played very aggressive and created so many chances especially with Jokinen and fleischmann. Gaborik called Luongo to make a tough save on a slap shot from the goal crease. With 3 minutes left King had a Big chance to score left alone in front of the goalie forced Luongo to make a miracolous save on the attacker. The Kings continued to be dangerous when Williams Found Lewis close to the goal line but he missed an easy shot, the period finished with both teams nervous in each other due the physical nature of the game. The 3td period started with a Pirri deflection from the goal crease and Quick answered with a Great position, LA got a PP for interference with 17:59 left to play and they scored a PPG with a Gaborik slap shot from the circle due to a Great vision by Kopitar. This game shifted the momentum to the Kings side till Muzzin made an awful pass that let Bjugstad to tie the game alone 1 on 1 vs Quick, Florida attacked furiosly and it let them got a PP for a Shore s interference but the Kings penalty killers got the job done. With 3 minutes left in the game Pirri took advantage of another Kings mistake on defense and score the game ahead goal. LA haven't been able to score with the extra skater on last minute of the game and this lead to another frustrating loss for them, they wasted a W for 2 silly mistakes and they can't do it if they wanna reapeat, also they have to support more their attackers because Daughty can't do that job alone. The Panthers proved another time that they can matchup playoffs teams with different stiles of hockey and today they fought hard for every puck provino also that they never give up. My 3 stars of the game are: 3 Daughty in my opinion the most valuable player on the ice today 2 Pirri he scored the game winning game 1 Bjugstad he scored a goal and provided a very good intensity

NFL Super Bowl 49: Seattle Seahawks 24 New England Patriots 28 recap and analysis

The game started with the Seahawks who decided to kick the ball and let the Pats begin with the ball feeling more confortable let their defense go 1st, the 1st half of the 1st quarter has been dominated by the defense who stopped the offense in a fast way overtime they went to the field, this trend continued until the Pats put up a very precise and efficient drive made essential by short passes, powerful Blount's runs and screens all this with different formation and very well chosen leaving the Seahawks defense always in doubt but unfortunately for the Pats Brady committed an huge mistake trying to throw away the ball while he was under heavy pressure by Avril and Bennett and his off balance pass ended in the hands of CB Lane who trying to return the ball got hurt badly and left the match due to an arm injury. On the following drive the Seahawks got just one 1st down with a weak zone Lynch run then the awesome coverage by the entire Pats secondary forced the Seattle's offense to leave the field and this gave another chance to the Pats offense to score for the 1st time in the game and they used at the best scoring with an 11 yards receiving TD by LaFell running a slant route 1 on 1 against CB Simon, great drive by Brady who lead his offense with only passes to his WRs who got very good gain on short routes the most important has been the Edelman slant who converted a 3rd down and let the Pats enter into the Seahawks 15 yards. The Seahawks reaction arrived with 2:16 left to play in the 1st half due to a great reception on a fly route by WR Matthews who beat CB Harrington to take his team deep in Pats territory and once there they lest Lynch run some times until he got into the end zone with a read option outside run using all his power to break the tackles. The Pats with 2 minutes left continued in the way they played all game long thus far until with 31 seconds left in the 2nd quarter Brady found Gronkowski aligned as a WR 1 on1 against LOLB KJ Wright on a fade route to score their 2nd TD of the game. Seattle didn't waste time and with 2 straight run by Turbin and then Wilson they arrived in Pats territory and once arrived on 11 yards line with 6 seconds left Wilson found Matthews in the end zone on a back should catch to beat CB Logan Ryan for the game tying TD.
The Seahawks started the 2nd half with an explosive drive lead by Lynch's powerful runs and another great reception on a fly route by WR Matthews but they failed to convert a 3rd and 1 with a shotgun draw by Lynch so Haushka came on the field to give 3 points to his team. NE tried to react but Brady got picked off by MLB Wagner who read perfectly a Gronk's curl route on Pats' 40 yard line. Seattle increased its lead to 10 points on the following drive thanks to 2 big runs by Wilson and Lynch who brough the ball close to the end zone where Baldwin received in the end zone on a crossing route a very well execute play action pass. After some minutes played in the 4th quarter NE cut the lead with another drive full of passes who saw Edelman as the protagonist but they scored with Amendola in the back of the end zone from the slot, all the passes of this drive have been possible due to the lack of pressure on Brady who had plenty of time to pass the ball and it has been so hard for the Seahawks defensive backs to cover the Pats receivers for so long time. Seahawks offense didn't produce anything on the following drive so the Pats to tie or even to go ahead in the game, NE attacked Seattle's defense again with a majority of passes especially slants, flat routes, crossing routes and curls, great contribution by Gronkowski who finally had a drive on his usual levels. With 2:02 on the clock Edelman scored the game winning TD on a reverse fake slant who fooled Simon once again and left him alone in the end zone. The Seahawks got their chance to win the game on the last drive of the game and they seemed to could do it, they started with a 31 yards reception by Lynch on a HB Wheel route then they reached the Pats' 5 yards due to a circus reception by WR Kearse after a deflection, once there they let Lynch run who finished 1 yard shy of the TD and with a TO left Carroll shocked the world and lost the SB let Wilson pass from the shotgun to Lockett that got intercepted by the undrafted rookie CB from West Alabama Malcolm Butler who read so well the slant route. Seattle still had a chance because the Pats didn't have room to kneel down but a silly penalty for encroachment close the game out in favor of the Pats.
Great game to watch and get game by both teams awfully decided by a stupid call by coach Carroll who should easily let Lynch run and win the game. Brady hasn't been perfect but so consistent and i think it's right to give him the MVP trophy even if Butler deserve so much credit for the game winning play. Very good strategy by the Pats to attack the Seahawks defense and limit the turnovers, on defense they limited the damages against the runs and they made an outstanding coverage against every Seahawk who was not Matthews. Seattle made some mistake on short yardage situations they had to run the ball from i formation with Lynch and not try passes and draws from the shotgun, their defense played a decent game but they were so far from their best standards due to the multiple injuries that they had to face.

NFL Super Bowl XLIX: Game winning play analysis and considerations

The Malcolm Butler interception changed the final result of this Super Bowl and all the things linked to it. Everyone who saw that play is asking himself...why that...??? you should chose the right word to describe that play by the way i heard that Carroll justified his choice that with just 1 TO left he wouldn't been able to run all 3 downs left and in case Lynch wouldn't reach the end zone he would blow his last TO and it would force passes in last 2 play. Well i don't think so, 1st i think with less than a yard to go Lynch is 1 of the best in the history and i'm sure as hell that he would enter easy in the end zone, 2nd if he would pass well use Lynch...in a play action fake from an high formation avoiding to alarm the defense with a shotgun formation, 3rd Wilson should target a TE on a quick slant to have an easier physical battle than the one that Lockett lost vs Butler for the position to get the ball.
The theory of conspirancy says that Carroll would like that Wilson would be the MVP of the game  due to a marketing aspect knowing that whoever would score that TD would be the MVP at the end of the game, the possible reasons are
easy to get, Wilson is the rising star of the Seahawks and the MVP would delete any doubt about him even after a very bad championship game vs the Packers, on the other side there is Lynch of course the best choice to score but such a complicated guy who always stand up for his thoughts and involved in numerous discussion with the NFL but most of all with his team for obvious salary reasons that also brought him out of the team row a personal lockout at the beginning of the season and with his contract on the line once again an MVP trophy would increase a way more his high expectations. I think it's a lil bit unreal think all this, we are talking about a SB not a game that means anything and the only choice to gives credibility to this theory is that Carroll had an awesome faith in Wilson to let him pass the ball in that situation.
The other theory is about the bookmakers, it's remote but there are a lot of question marks on last 2 minutes of the game, the 1st one is why Belichick didn't call any TOs with the Seahawks on 1 yard line??? The 2nd one is you have not a great passing QB not a reliable WR or a TE to pass the ball to and you take that big risk with the SB on the line??? The 3rd one is the silly encroachment penalty by the Seahawks defense that allowed the Pats get the necessary space for the QB kneel, they had a serious shot to force them to a 2 point safety and then with the possession of the ball with a TO try a game winning FG in a dome kind of stadium where is even easier to kick FGs but their penalty has been really clumsy.

NFL Super Bowl XLIX matchups winners

Let's analyze offense vs defense the direct matchups who characterize and determinated the final result of the game.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS OFFENSE VS NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS DEFENSE

LINE: SEA, i give the win of this matchup to the Seahawks because their o-line played a decent game opening up the holes for Lynch and also they gave a very good protection to Wilson all game long

RB and TE vs LB: SEA, very good all around game by Lynch but Willson hasn't been effective and never get free to provide a good target to Wilson, the Pats LB made their job and a very good group effort to limit in the best way possible Lynch

WR vs CB and S: NE, a part of Matthews great game the other Seattle's receiver have been shutdown all game long counting even the Malcolm Butler game winning interception on a great slant read

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS OFFENSE VS SEATTLE SEAHAWKS DEFENSE

LINE: TIE, it's tie in my opinion because NE didn't produce anything on the ground after the 1st 2 drives but at the same time the Seattle's pass rushers haven't been able to get Brady and also they rarely disturbed the Pats QB during his pass mechanics

RB and TE vs LB: SEA, great game by the Seahawks LB who intercepted Brady, covered Gronk in a great way and they provided a very good effort against the running game

WR vs CB and S: NE, the best part of the Seattle's defense have been beaten by an on fire Pats' WR core lead by Edelman who beat the size of the Seahawks CBs with his agility and changes of direction

Brady vs Wilson: NE, propably the most important matchup in a football game in the QB's one, Wilson has been explosive and really impression in certain situations but he hasn't been continuous as Brady has been, Brady made more errors but it's true that he took a way more responsibilities than his direct opponent, Brady errors a part played a very good game using his skill to play short and safe but with good results gaining his 3rd SB MVP title in his career.

NFL Super Bowl XLIX: Who has the edge role by role?

QB: NE, Brady's experience and skills are clearly better than Wilson's ones

RB: SEA, Lynch is a similar runner of Blount but the continuity and the overall completeness give a very good advantage to Lynch

WR: NE, very slight edge because the Seahwks core proved to the world that if passes are good they are dangerous especially deep but i think the Pats core still a better one overall

TE: NE, hand down Gronkowski in an elite TE with just 3 or 4 equals in the world
O-LINE: SEA, the Seahwks o-line is such a solid one especially to run the football lead by C Unger has a very good edge over the unexperienced Pats one who during the season hasn't been continuous

D-LINE: TIE, it's tie in my opinion they are both complete, the Pats are lil better inside with Wilfork the Seahawks better on the edges with Avril and Bennett

LB: SEA, slight edge in favor of the defending champs due to the versatility of them, they hit hard and able to blitz but also so fast to cover TEs and all the zones with good time of reaction

CB: SEA, great battle between Sherman and Revis where Revis is the winner but on the other side Maxwell is improved so much and now is a way better than is former teammate Browner who struggled too much with penalties and needs too many times the help by a safety

S: SEA, the best safety duo of the NFL against McCourthy and Chung two of the most improved in the league

ST: SEA, those teams has good STs but not great the difference is that Seattle has more weapons to find the jolly play on both defensive and offensive sides

COACHING STUFF: TIE, 2 of the best coaches in the NFL with the opposite attitudes but with a great defensive knowledge

NHL: Boston Bruins 3 LA Kings 1 recap and analysis

The game started in a very physical way with heavy forecheck that prevented both teams to have any chances to score, around 11:30 left the Lings had 3 consecutive chances to score, the biggest on the Carter's stick but Rask made an out standing save using his quickness. The Bruins had their 1st chance with just under 10 minutes to play on the stick of Krejci who tried to redirect a Lucic's shot but it finished over the cross bar. 3:40 left on the clock Nolan wasted a good chance on a bad line change by the Bruins missing a shot from the slot. The 2nd period had a fast start by both teams and the Bruins got the 1st PP with 16:12 on the clock due to Carter's cross checking penalty. The PP resulted unsuccessful due to a very good penalty killing stand by the Kings who conceded just 2 shots on goal. After that the Kings began to execute very Well doing so they created some very good chances the biggest of them has been the Shore's one 1 on 1 vs Rask that saw a good stop by the Bruins goalie. Marchand had a good opportunity to score but he hasn't been able to shoot Well but with 2:40 left he redeem himself with a snap shot by the high slot for the 1st goal of the game. With 0:27 left Muzzin forced a PP to give his team a chance to react. The PP continued thru the beginning of the 3rd quarter but it didn't produce anything. The following 5 minutes have been Dominated by the Kings who created some chances to score but they haven't been able to capitalize them, after few boring minutes C Jordan Nolan found an unbelievable goal to tie the game but 1:36 later Boston regain the lead with a Kelly's goal who redirected high under the cross bar a Soderberg midfield shot.  LA tried to score again but they didn't and with 0:16 left Marchand closed the game out with an empty net goal.
The game should go in both way because it has been a very balanced game due to the enormous physical effort put on the field by both team, LA needs to improve so much his offense on the road where they struggle so much, Carter, Gaborik and Kopitar haven't been brilliant as they could be and they great performance by the defense (defesively but not in playmaking) and Quick resulted not enough to win in Boston. The Bruins matched up so well the physicallity of the Kings and a very inspired Marchand made all the difference on offense where he scored 2 goals. This has been a Bruins vs Kings typical game with tough forecheck, lot of hard contacts, great defense and great goaltending but i expected more by the Kings offense who is not continuous at all this season and it's weird because they have a lot of talent there that should produce a way more than now.
MY 3 stars of the game are: 3 Doughty (always great in playmaking) 2 Rask (outstanding all game long) 1 Marchand (he has been the difference in this game).
