NHL Playoffs game 2: Tampa Bay Lightning 4 NY Islanders 1 recap and differencemaker points analysis

1st Period TB 2 NYI 1

- God puck movement by the Lightning

- the Isles seemed a lil bit confused during the changes especially the ones on the fly

- Islanders bad turnovers especially entering in the offensive zone

- the Lightning very good to capitalize the Islanders mistakes and this is why they scored 2 goals

- Islanders initial stuggle to enter in the offensive zone due to a good Lightning forechecking

- Garrison mistake on PP kill (he made a wrong attempt to change is position once he was in the forward position leaving uncovered a big area)

- Greiss not so good in the net especially on the second Lightning goal

2nd Period TB 3 NYI 1

- This has been a quiet period in matter of scoring chances

- Lightning completely outshooted by the Isles until they scored their 3rd goal of the game

- Lucky PP goal by the Lightning with Hedman who hit de Hann in the skate to get a winning deflection of a shot that was a way wide to the net

- Tampa  Bay penalty killing got the job done

3rd Period TB 4 NYI 1

- Islanders unable to shoot the puck to the goal

- Lightning very good to don't just manage the advantage

- poor scoring chances amount even in this period due to a vey good positioning by both defense especially at the blue line

- NY went with the xtra skater with 4 minutes left in the game but even in that situation they haven't been able to have a good puck movement in the offensive zone

- Lighting defense got back the possession of the puck and gave the chance to Johnson to score their fourth goal of the afternoon and he did it from a long distance

Very good game defensively by the Lightning who has been outstanding in PP killing and limiting Tavares, on the other side the Isles played too soft physically and mentally where they committed key mistakes that cost them the game.
