The weather at Ralph Wilson stadium had a big impact on the game due to the wind that hit the field hard, that's why so many drop passes and miss throws especially on the first drives of the game. After some bad drives the game changed when Jets' punter made an awful punt (just 21 yards) and gave the Bills a great field position and they took advantage of it scoring a 18 yards rushing TD with Taylor who run outside the tackles with his blazing speed. NY's offensive struggle continued with too many drops by his WRs that gave other offensive possessions to the Bills that put 2 full possession between them and their rivals due to a Williams dive run TD after a balanced drive that let them came close to the end zone, NY tried a reaction with a very good run by Ivory who brought his team in FG range but Bullock missed it from the 40. The first score for the visitors came with Marshall who scored a 18 yards TD running a post route to beat the coverage but the Jets' defense continue to struggle to stop the Bills offense especially against Watkins who beat the coverage a lot of times in this first half so Carpenter made a FG to end it.
The home team didn't continue the positive trend in the second half, in fact Gillislie fumbled the football giving the visitors a great field position but they didn't capitalize it completely kicking just a FG, Buffalo offense seemed back on track again with Watkins who made the difference in a lot of 3rd down conversions so they arrived in FG range where Carpenter made another one. Fitzpatrick found his rhythm and they start too move the ball down field and they scored a receiving TD with Decker who beat the coverage of Darby. NY had the chance to win it but once in the end zone trailing by just 2 points Fitzpatrick tried to go in the end zone to Decker on a post route very well read by McKelvin who intercepted it giving his team an offensive possession where they scored other 3 points, the Jets had another chance to win it but Fitzpatrick under pressure by Dareus threw in no men's land where Lawson got the pick 6 that ended the game and eliminated the Jets from the playoffs.
