NFL NFC Championship: Carolina Panthers 49 Arizona Cardinals 15 recap and analysis

The visitors started with the possession of the ball but the Panthers defense forced them to a quick 3 and out, Newton got the ball on his 30 yard line where he started a good drive that let them score 3 points thanks to some good passes to his WRs. Arizona continued to struggle so they punt the ball to Ted Ginn who has been the biggest protagonist of this drive not only returning th ball for over 30 yards but also taking to the end zone a great designed reverse run running across the field twice using the perfect block on the best way to score the first TD of the game. Carolina's offense continue to play well scoring other 7 points with WR Brown who beat 1 on 1 man coverage of FS Rashad Johnson for a 86 yards TD that extended their lead to 17 points. The Cardinals offense continue to struggle due to Palmer's inability to make precise passes and the only player who has been able to move the ball effectively has been D. Johnson on both air and ground. On their following drive the finally got their rhythm on offense putting up a balanced drive ended with a rushing TD by Johnson on a dive run from the goaline formation. Arizona's defense stopped Carolina's offense but Peterson fumbled the punt giving up the ball inside his own territory where Stewart took care of it moving it inches away from the end zone where Newton fly over the linemen to score his first rushing TD of the game, since that both teams traded turnovers but they haven't been able to score any points out of them.
The Panthers came out fearless to avoid what happened in the game last week against the Seahawks and they scored 10 straight points moving the ball so well and with aggressivness especially on the air, Newton scored his second rushing TD of the game on a QB designed run, since that the Cardinals scored just 8 points on a Fells TD came on a vertical seem but the Panthers defense destroyed them not only conceding nothing but also forcing multiple turnovers especially interceptions on Palmer who has never been precise and on the same page with his WRs.

Carson Palmer in my opinion played injured and his finger's issues had an huge impact on his game where he shown a poor precision on every kind of passes something that is not usual for him, HB Johnson played a very good game trying to substain all the weight of his offense, their defense who had great results blitzing during the regular season didn't get the job done and the result has been big plays down field. Cam Newton played a very good game managing well the situation of advantage that his defense set up, Stewart continue to put up good numbers running off the shotgun and on the read option.

MVP: Kuechly
