New England answered back with a FG but McManus restablished the lead with a 52 yards FG at the end of the first half.
The first points on the second half has been scored by the Patriots who marched down the field just with passes but Gronk got hurt on a 31 yards reception, once in redzone the Broncos forced them to kick a 38 yards FG. No score for the remaining of the third quarter thanks to a great performance by both defense who forced the offenses to quick 3 and outs even due to great punts and down fields coverages. The Broncos score after 3 minutes from the start of the fourth quarter thanks to a big run by Anderson who push them across the field right into Patriots territory, once there Manning got other two first downs but came few inches away on third down passes to get Norwood in the end zone so McManus kicked a short yardage FG to extend their lead to 8 points. On the following drive the Patriots tried to answer back and they continue to do it by the air ad even if with some difficulties they reached the Denver's redzone but once there they failed to convert a 4th and 1 trying to do it with a play action fake on the right side passing on the left side to Edelman who came across the formation but Chris Harris Jr. understood it and made the tackle to before he reached the first down. The Patriots had their chance to tie the game on their last drive, trailing by 8 points with 1:56 left to play in the game Brady continue to struggle moving the ball down field but he found Gronkowski running a vertical seem with no help over the top on a crucial 4th down conversion that sent them right into the Broncos redzone, once there they arrived few yards away from the end zone but again they faced a 4th down and again they converted it for a TD with Gronkowski who got free of the coverage running an out route thanks to his strength but unfortunately for them they failed the 2 points conversion that ended their season.
This has been an hell of a game ruled by the defenses but the offenses made the difference, The Patriots one haven't been able to run the ball and Brady played well just in his last drive, all game long he made bad decisions that cost him 2 turnovers, on the other side Manning managed his offense in a great way understanding so well the blitzes and the variety of coverages making the adjustments that really made the difference in this game.
