NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers 17 Baltimore Ravens 30 recap and analysis

We needed to wait 13 minutes to see the 1st 3 points of the game made by Suisham after a drive that saw Roethlisberger pass the ball the majority of the times and he did that to his WRs but once arrived close to the Ravens' redzone he became predictable passing the ball so it has been more easier for the Ravens pass rushers to be effective and limited the Steelers to just a FG. The Ravens got the lead on the very next play establishing a very good ground game using the very good blocks made by the entire o-line, 1st Forsett then Pierce who score the 1st TD of the game on a 2nd and goal situation running on his left. The Steelers cut their deficit with a good drive characterized by the best ability of Ben keeping the plays alive and along with silly penalties made them arrive so close to score 7 but the Bell's absence effect weighted so much again in this goaline kind of offense so Suisham came out for his 2nd FG of the night. Baltimore scored again with a very good drive that saw them marching down the field with big plays both on air and on the ground but arrived in Pittsburgh's redzone the pressure from the Steelers' front 7 lead by Harrison put the opponents offense out of rhythm and forced them to call Tucker to kick a FG. The Steelers got the last chance of the 1st half to score and they did with the 3rd FG of the game.
The Ravens dominated the 3rd quarter with an exceptional defense along with a balanced and well coached offense that produced 10 unanswered points for them, in this 10 points there are a FG by Tucker and a receiving TD by Torrey Smith scored in the back of the end zone on a crossing route after a play action fake that fooled all the Steelers defense who play committed to stop Forsett on the line of scrimmage. No sign of reaction by the Steelers at the end of the 3rd quarter but the things changed at the beginning of the 4th quarter when after a 4th down conversion at midfield the Ravens fumbled and lost the ball with Forsett and this gave the home team a very good field position. Roethlisberger came close to score on the very 1st play of the drive falling just 1 yard away on a pass to Brown who hit the weakest part of the Tampa 2 coverage in the place where MLB Smith was supposed to be but the speed of Brown gave him no chance to be in time, after that Big Ben found Martavius Bryant in the end zone for their 1st TD of the game 1 on 1 on a fade against the smaller CB Webb, once they score they tried the 2 points conversion but they failed in their intent. Baltimore put a complete possession between those 2 teams scoring 3 points by a Tucker 52 yards FG after a drive characterized by more passes than runs, Baltimore didn't finish to increase their advantage and their defense came up big with a Suggs unbelievable interception who kept the ball between his legs before got the possession on a pass intended to HB Tate on a release route. Flacco threw his 2nd TD pass of the night to TE Gillmore on a crossing route after a very well designed play action fake who let him score untouched. The Steelers tried to answer back the Ravens and they marched easy with passes 'til the opponents' 20 yard line and with Roethlisberger out for few plays Gradkowski came in to the game and made an awesome job coming even close to complete a TD pass but Hill knocked the ball out from Bryant's hands and once Ben has been able to return on the field at the very 1st pass he made an awful throw in the end zone that has been picked off by slot CB Steward to end the Steelers chance to win the game.
The Steelers offense without Bell hasn't been the same in this game and i think they left the running game too early in the game, Ben hasn't been consistent too with his decisions even due to the struggles that his o-line shown against the Ravens front 7, on defense they did a good job against Forsett to prevent his dangerous cut-backs but this exposed them to the play actions that killed them.
The Ravens played a very good game, well coached and very well executed on both offense and defense, Flacco made his job perfectly especially on making the right things and don't force down field, their defense played very good and shown improvements on secondary where they suck all season long allowing big plays over big plays but a part of this success goes to their pass-rushers who killed the Pitts o-line in fact Suggs who is my MVP of the game made everything possible to win this game in pass rushing, run stopping and even in coverage.
