The Cowboys didn't start as they wanted to finishing 3 and out on their 1st possession and then they allowed the 1st TD of the by WR Golden Tate who faked an out route and came right across the field for a huge score, the Lions attacked the weakest part of the Cowboys defense passing the ball all the time and to different receivers. Dallas continue struggle on offense and this gave Detroit another chance to increase the lead and they did despite the awful starting field position even thanks to the silly (invented) penalty of running into the kicker that extended the Lions drive, after that Detroit put up a balanced drive running the ball a way more than the 1st scoring drive and has been that running game to took them ahead by 14 with a beautiful Bush 18 yards rushing TD. Murray tried to drive his team to the 1st score of the game with 3 explosive runs but the inability to pass the ball limited them just to another punt. Detroit offense seemed to cool down a lil bit and they gave the ball to Romo once again that with inside the 2 minutes warning delivered a perfect pass to WR Terrence Williams on a post route in the slot on a 3rd and long that resulted in the Cowboys 1st TD of the game. They left 1:47 on the clock to the Lions offense that with a very good passing game arrived deep inside the Cowboys territory to let Prater to kick a 39 yards FG to end the 1st half.
The Lions wasted their 1st possession of the 2nd half in the worst way possible, Stafford has been picked off by LB Wilber who caught in the air a deflected pass and gave his team just 19 yards to go to end zone. Despite the awesome field position they came out with nothing, because RE Ansah sacked Romo and forced Bailey to a relative easy FG that has been missed by the Dallas' kicker.
The Lions pumped up by the Bailey's mistakes moved the ball with inside runs and passes to their WRs right in the FG range where Prater converted another FG. Dallas reacted immediately with Murray who brought some solid runs at the beginning of the drive then Bryant received a ball on a crossing route 1 on 1 against ROLB Levy and got an huge gain out of it bringing them in the Lions Redzone, inside the redzone Beasley brought them close to the end zone and Murray came across the line on a 4th down cut back run. Detroit offense continue his blackout and Dallas had a big chance to get the lead but 2 straight sacks stopped the Cowboys drive and forced Bailey to kick a 51 yards FG that put them behind by just 3 points. Lions reaction ended at midfield due to a controversial call no call by the refs and the following punt has been so bad and the result was ball near midfield and Romo punished Detroit for their mistake marching thru the end zone where he found Terrence Williams after he got so many seconds to pass the ball due to the great job of his o-line against the 4 men rush of the Lions. Detroit trailed for the 1st time of the game with 2 minutes left in the game, their last try to win it seemed to be a good 1 but once arrived at midfield they hopes ended due to a DeMarcus Lawrence sack on 4th down.
Detroit have to blame just themselves for this elimination, their offense after a brilliant start disappeared, i think Stafford need a better receiving TE than Pettigrew to avoid this blackouts and to have a safe target without risk outside passes to Megatron, the o-line should play better in both running and passing games because their HBs had issue to find good holes to run in that's why their biggest play on the ground came with Bush inventing something with his speed, i can say also the receivers should do a way more to get free against a not awesome secondary.
Dallas played like a diesel and after a frustrating start of the game especially on offense that improved so much, on defense they did a great job on coverage even against Megatron who seemed unstoppable at the beginning of the game, even their defense against the runs has been consistent forcing lot of cut backs. On offense when the o-line started to provide a decent protection to Romo the offense made good things especially on the air with the MVP of the game in my opinion WR Terrence Williams who score 2 TDs and provided a good alternative to Bryant all game long wwho has been double covered all the time to avoid his big plays.
