NFL: AFC Championship New England Patriots 45 Indianapolis Colts 7 recap and analysis

Indy started the game with the ball but they didn’t produce anything and they punted the ball to the Pats that once arrived at midfield they punted the ball back to the Colts but Cribs didn’t control the ball and the Pats ST recovered the ball on Indy’s 30 yards. The Pats capitalized it completely with a balanced drive alternating short outside passes and inside powerful runs by Blount that scored the 1st TD of the game form the goaline with a dive run. Indy tried to answer back the Pats but their attempt failed with the missed 51 yards FG by Vinatieri. The Pats continued in the same way of they ended their last drive and marched again down field right to the Colts’ goaline where the FB Develin received the 1st TD pass of the game by Brady on a flat route. Indy continued to struggle on offense and NE tried to put the game on ice keeping the same strategy of the last drives with the lil difference that once arrived in Colts territory they tried to go to Gronkowski on a post route covered 1 on 1 by MLB Jackson who picked the unprecise Brady's pass off. Luck finally got his rhythm and drove his team for 93 yards on 10 plays most of them on the air especially the big one of Hilton that converted a 3rd down on a fade, the Colts scored later on a 1 yard run by HB Tipton on a power run. The Pats got the final chance of the 1st half to put points on the board and they did with a short FG by Gostowski after a more difficult drive than the others due to the improvement of the Colts’ coverage especially in 1 on 1 situations.
The Pats explosive start of the 2nd half brought them other 7 points with a drive started on the ground with some impressive runs by Blount then once they arrived around the Colts 20 yards they scored on a play action pass received by the elegible LT Nate Solder. The Colts continued to be unable to produce anything on offense so the Pats closed the game out with the following 2 drives the 1st one they used heavy formations with great success on running game with Blount that took them close to the Colts end zone where Gronk caught his 1st TD of the game. On the following drive Revis picked of Luck on a missed throw and he took the ball on the Colts’s 10 yards where Blount scored another rushing TD on a powerful run. I expected a Pats win but not a blow out like the with a garbage time 4th quarter.
Indianapolis completely out of the game right from the beginning’s fumble, Luck hasn’t been able to attack the Pats defense doing even worse than the other times against the Pats, they also has been ineffective on the ground with a very poor performance by Herron. On defense they continued to have no answer for NE’s HBs and again like last year Divisional game Blount killed them badly and made Brady’s job a way easier and they have too too aggressive especially against the runs overreact and oversight themselves exposing too much to cut backs, on defense the Pats awesome performance by Revis and all the secondary due to very good job of their pass rushers who put on Luck a consistent pressure all game long.
My MVP trophy goes to Pats’ LaGarrette Blount who has been dominant with his power all game long and gave another dimension to his offense.
