1st round: in this round round Cormier made an impressive single leg takedown that let his rival fly then he controlled the match on the ground with his wrestling skills.
2nd round: a way more active in matter of striking than the first one, Gustaffson in my opinion got this round due a very close result on landed hits the difference has been made by the 2 takedowns that he successfully made on his rival. Cormier came out of this round with a big cut under his right eye that limited him in striking phases
3rd round: the champion controlled the first 4 minutes and inflicted some very hard hits right to his rival's face cutting him but the challenger came so close to win the title when in the last minutes of this round he landed a fly knee right into the Cormier's chin but he avoided the ground and pound of the challenger saving his title.
4th round: after a very intense round the fighters studied each other but Cormier again continued to have the control of the octagon forcing so many times his rival to run away literally from his actions and that s why i give this round to the champion.
5th round: with the verdict on the line the 2 tired fighter tried to get the win and both have chosen the clinch as the way to try to get the better of their opponent and Cormier got the better during that phase thanks to his muscles and his uppercuts that continued to sign the face of the Swedish fighter. At the end of it Cormier won the match by split decision at still the Light Heavyweight Champion of the world.
