NFL: Green Bay Packers 27 Seattle Seahawks 17 recap and analysis

1st Half

The Packs scored on their opening drive driving the ball down the field with the majority of passes especially on early downs finishing to score a 29 yards receiving TD with Jones on a crossing route in the end zone after a very good movement in the pocket by Rodgers to avoid the pressure by the Seahawks' front 7. GB's defense forced Seattle to a quick 3 and out so they got the ball back and scored another time on the following drive, this time 3 points on a 54 yards FG by Crosby after a drive with the majority of the plays has been passes. The Seahawks answered back to their opponents with a good offensive drive making even a big play where Wilson found Baldwin on a deep route in a hole of the Packs' zone defense, then they moved the ball on the ground using the famous read options for both QB and HB until the home team stop them and forced Hauschka to kick a 54 yards FG that hit the post then went down for good 3 points. GB started what seemed such a promising drive and after some good completions by Rodgers Starks lost a fumble after received a pass on a fat release route. The Packers got the final chance of the first half to score, the drive started with a free play for Rodgers due to a Bennett's offside that let the QB pass the ball deep to Cobb who has been touch illegally by Sherman for a pass interference penalty, after that they came few yards close to the Seahawks end zone but they haven't been able to score 7 so they kicked a FG for 3 points to end the first half.

2nd Half

The Seahawks started the second half in the best way possible recording a 6 minutes TD drive, they drove the ball down field with patience alternating runs to short passes, a short pass on a release route gave Fred Jackson the first TD as a Seahawk. Seattle's defense continue to do great and stop GB's offense and so did Wilson on the offensive side and in the following drive he lead his team to the first lead of the night passing to Baldwin on a vertical seem from the slot the go ahead TD. GB cut the deficit on the very next drive with a FG, they found some difficulties to advance the ball down field due to the absence of Lacy that reduce the power of their running gam and let their plays be more predictable especially counting the lot of times that Rodgers had to pass the ball so the defense has been able to stop them short of the red zone. GB comeback ahead scoring a receiving TD by Rogers that also converted the 2 points conversion after that Rodgers scrambled out of the pocket. Seattle interrupted at the beginning when Wilson got picked off on the 40 yard line trying a screen pass, due to the turnover they fell behind by 10 due to the Crosby's FG that ended the game in favor of the Packers.

Another great performance by Rodgers even counting the important absences in his offense, the Packers defense has been so good especially against the read options and in QB's contain. Seattle seemed to miss Maxwell (signed by the Eagles) and Chancellor (out indefinitely with contract issues), their defense didn't have an easy opponent but they gave up too much on the first 2 weeks and even the offense seemed to lost something with the departure of Unger in matter of creating holes for the runs and organizing the o-line during especially during special counts.
