Starters: Owens vs Tanaka
1st inning
Owens had a remarkable inning alternating good located fastball to effective breaking balls away especially his slider, also he alternated high-low selection of pitch that didn't let the batter guess easy.

2nd inning
After an excellent 1st inning Owens missed completely the command of his fastball and after he gave up a single to Headley he gave up back to back homers to Bird and Murphy on fastballs in the middle of the plate, his truggles continue and he loaded the bases then he gave up other 2 runs on Young and a rod's hits, after that the Red Sox called from the bullpen Cook who gave up an opposite field HR over the green monster to Beltran.
After a disastrous inning defensively the Red Sox hasn't been able to react on the plate ending the inning with just a Catillo's single
3rd inning
Cook still on the mound for the home team and so his struggle, after he put 2 runners on he gave up another homer to Stephen Drew in the right field that put the visitors up 11-1.
Boston continue to produce just 1 hit per inning that didn't allow them to score and get closer to the Yanks.
5th inning
Yankees put another run on the board thanks to another HR this time by Didi Gregorious, finally the Red Sox answered back this time even if it was just 1 run they begun a try to get back into the game.
6th inning
Breslow got the job done with a 1 2 3 inning something that gave courage to his offense that hit a leadoff HR by Bogaerts in the CF on a Tanaka's missed fastball.
7th inning
another good inning by Breslow kept out of scoring the Yanks that continue their lil struggling on the mound with Tanaka substituted by Bailey who loaded the bases with other 2 walks, Sandoval drove in a run with a sac fly in CF then Bogaerts single drove home Jackie Bradley Jr. to cut the deficit at 8 runs.
9th inning
Yankees offense didn't get up after fell asleep on a 13 runs early performance and the result has been another 1 2 3 inning. After scoring other 2 runs in the 8th Boston's offense tried the impossible behind 6 runs but they haven't been able to complete the comeback due to the huge deficit that they had at the beginning and even if they scored a run on a Shaw's double in CF they fell a way short to really get back into what has been a miserable game for them.
The Yankees deserved to win this game showing why they are contenders to a playoffs spot and the Red Sox aren't, even if Tanaka didn't shine today he limited the damages and with a support of 13 runs it was everything that he needed to win this game, Tanaka's command especially on fastballs has not been the one of the best days but nothing compare to the disastrous performance of the duo Owens, Cook who really missed a ton of pitches in the middle of the plate let Yankees lineup without Ellsbury McCann and Texeira scoring 13 in the first 5 innings.
