MLB: Seattle Mariners 5 Texas Rangers 0 recap and analysis

Starters: Hernandez vs Holland

The game started with a very good first inning both defensively and offensively by the Mariners that scored 2 runs  on Trumbo's opposite field double that drove home Cruz and Cano who got on base earlier, since that moment both had big difficulties not just to score but even to get on base because on one side there was Hernandez who had 8 shutout innings with 8 K and a dominant performance due to his amazing changeups, the classic one (even at 90 mph) and the circle change (86-88 mph) along with an effective sweeping curveball, on the other side Holland who had just 2 bad innings that ruined his game but on the middle part of it he has been so good pitching outside on left handed hitters using so much his best weapon a slider at 86-88 mph to get them out of balance, he gave up the other 3 points of his game on the 7th inning when he gave a up a leadoff double to the catcher Sucre who played a very good game even defensively where he threw out 2 runners, then Marte hit a single to drive him home, the Rangers pitchers lost his command on the fast ball again but this time was Cruz at the plate who hit an opposite field HR in the right field to kill the Texas' chances to comeback in the game.

Seattle shown that they are a better team than the record says especially when Felix is on the mound, even against a very good pitcher like Holland is their lineup didn't play bad at all being opportunistic on the rares mistakes by the pitcher, on the other side the Rangers defense didn't support at all Holland (3 errors made) and the offense has been quiet all game long, even if Hernandez is a top pitcher i expected more from one of the most prolific offense in the MLB.

MVP: Felix Hernandez
