NHL Stanley Cup Finals game 6: Chicago Blackhawks 2 TB Lightning 0 recap and analysis

1st period 0-0

On the first 10 minutes or so of this game 6 the Lightning show a very good determination to score lead by a very inspired Steven Stamkos who created for himself and for his teammates, he hit even a goal post with a slap shot from the circle that came very close to end its race into the net.
With 11 minutes left in the period Chicago got the first PP of the game and even if they didn't score on that they had 2 great chances to score, one when Sharp missed to correct into the open net a Kane's shot, the second when Seabrook let go a slap shot that rebounded behind the back of the net. Chicago got the second PP of the period with 6 minutes left and at the very beginning of it they had a big scoring chance when on a 2 on 1 against the only Bishop Kane served a puck in the blue paint to his captain who has been denied by the TB's goalie.

2nd period 1-0

The period started with an huge chance on a breakaway by Stamkos 1 on 1 against Crawford who denied again in an unbelievable way, since that moment both teams tried to score with long distance shots especially with their defensemen but the Blackhawks have been the more dangerous creating some threats to Bishop with rebounding puck in front of the net. With 2:47 left in the period Keith scored the first goal of the game on a rebounding puck in front of the net that saw Bishop and the defensemen guilty and the Chicagos' defenseman punished them in the worst way for them. TB's players got nervous and Palat committed an elbowing penalty on Oduya close to the end of the period, on the following PP Seabrook hit the goal post with a slap shot.

3rd period 2-0

Chicago started the period with the man advantage but they didn't score but thy continued to keep up a very good person on their rivals who continued to suffer the forechecking of the Blackhawks and they had difficulties to have good offensive plays. Chicago put on ice the game with 5 minutes left in the game due to a Kane's breakaway goal that has been the result of a very good team play. TB didn't have the mental energy to try again to score and even with the extra skater they haven't been able to score.

Chicago's game has been such a tough one they played unbelievably great on defense and this let them beat a great offensive team as TB that found very difficult to enter in the offensive zone and when the fell behind they exposed themselves to the dangerous Blackhawks' breakaways. Both goalies played great and the difference has been the defense in from of them and even if the Lightining one played very good especially counting that at the Mad House is particularly difficult.

MY 3 Stars of the game

1 Crawford

2 Keith

3 Bishop
