NFL: Minnesota Vikings 13 Green Bay Packers 30 recap and analysis

The home team started with the possession of the ball but a silly penalty of the LT ruined the entire drive, the Packers got the ball and without running the ball they arrived in opponents territory with short passes where Crosby made a FG. Vikings' reaction arrived immediately thanks to some very good Peterson's runs that opened up the play action pass to TE Rudolph on a crossing route to score a 47 yards receiving TD. The visitors had a great starting field position on the following drive thanks to a great play by the special team but again the luck of consistency in the running game limited them to just a FG. GB got the lead with another Crosby's FG this time thanks to a big tough run by Lacy. Rodgers got the ball at the end of the first half and even if he got sacked a couple of time due to an embarrassing protection of the edges he has been able to march down field and let Cobb score of a skinny post route with less than 20 seconds left in the half to extend their lead to 10 points.
The Packers started with the possession of the ball the second half and they extended their lead with another FG, after some offensive drives ended by the defenses Minnesota found the end zone thanks to a great drive by Bridgewater especially when he found Rudolph on a vertical seem who used his size advantage against Burnett to get record a big play that opened up the Peterson's TD cut back run.
Rodgers answered back immediately moving the ball on the air for all drive long and especially to his favorite target of the day J.Jones who had 2 big catches on the drive, the most important in the back of the end zone after he beat an inattentive Newman on a man to man coverage e thanks to a double move down field and completed a very difficult catch keeping both feet down in bound, the Packers went for 2 and they converted it again to Jones, this time off a showel pass. Minnesota had the chance to comeback in the game but Peterson fumbled the ball once in enemy territory. The Packers closed the game out with 4:22 left in the game when Crosby made a 52 yards FG to put 3 possessions between them and their rivals.

The Packers won not thanks to the offense (something that happens so often) but to their defense who shutdown Adrian Peterson all game long and also made an outstanding job to put pressure on Bridgewater. Rodgers didn't play well in my opinion, too many incompletions and even if he hasn't been protected well especially the the 2 tackles he didn't seem on the same page with some of hi receivers. The Vikings defense played good but their offense didn't produce enough to win a key game, the o-line lost the battle on the line of scrimmage and without an effective Peterson all the Bridgewater's limits have been visible.

MVP: Entire Packers defense
