NBA Finals game 7: Golden State 89 Cleveland Cavaliers 93 recap and analysis

1st quarter GS 22 CLE 23

Cleveland started this game with a precise strategy: hard defense, being physical on rebound and keep a low pace of the game to avoid Golden State shooters to get on rhythm. The Cavaliers hit all their targets in the first quarter with the exception to defend well on the perimeter where they got hurt especially by Green, Cleveland had issues to move the ball on offense and they scored just from isolations and second chances due to a very good job on rebound.

2nd quarter GS 49 CLE 42

With a lot of members of the starting five on the bench both teams shot with low percentage due to the high energy that they put on defense, when they cameback on the court Curry still wasn't on the game so Draymond Green continue to keep his team on it with some great baskets, on the other side LeBron let the Warriors felt his presence with 2 blocks and a great energy on defense especially in the paint.

3rd quarter GS 76 CLE 75

The start of the second have took place with a personal scoring battle between Thompson and Jr. Smith with very difficult shots especially the ones behind the three point line, since that the home team lost too many ball especially trying spectacular passes not the one they need in a game 7 of the NBA finals, on the other side Cleveland rode Irving who got on rhythm and even in isolation one on one against Thompson he proved he can beat him. the quarter continue with both teams alternating at the lead with an alternation o scoring streaks, Cleveland has been able to do that with good exchanges on defense along with offensive rebounds to create second chances, Golden State comeback on it with an inspired Livingston and Green who continue to play very good even if his team didn't move the ball so well on offense.

4th quarter GS 89 CLE 93

Cleveland offense seemed to have had lost confidence in the players who are not James or Irving so they went so often on isolation, especially to Lebron on high post and they tried to creat something out of that but it didn't have the result that they expected so they chances strategy and preferred to go to the pick and roll with LeBron and the Center to force the defense to change on it to have the mismatch with LeBron one on one against Ezili and it paid off. Golden State missed too many easy shots for them and they haven't been able to got the lead and with both teams tired the percentages fell down. Irving brought his team ahead by 3 with a difficult 3 pointer against Curry on isolation with 53 seconds left, the Warriors made an awful offensive possession ended with a Curry forced missed shot then Lebron went to the charity line due to an Iguodala hard foul and his 1 on 2 gave his city, his team the first title in 57 years.
