NFL: San Diego Chargers 28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21 recap and analysis

Qualcomm Stadium San Diego, CA. The Chargers hosted the Buccaneers in a key game for both teams to keep playoffs hopes alive, it started with the home team in possession of the ball and like so many times in this season they have scored a touchdown on an Inman reception running an out route meanwhile Benjamin run a vertical seem to take away the safety coverage and allow the number 15 to score the touchdown. The following Bucs' drive has been a disaster with the game ending injury of Shorts and Stocker and the interception by Hayward on Winston but the Chargers once they arrived in field goal range they got kicked out of it by an holding penalty and a sack by McCoy that forced Lambo to kick and miss a 54 yarder. Tampa Bay's offense took over and drove down field thank to a balanced drive alternating Martin's runs to play action passes, the drive ended with a rushing TD by Martin with a powerful run on the weak side. San Diego's offense replied to their rival with a balanced drive using so many different formations and Gordon ended it with a inside run from the shotgun that resulted in his first rushing TD of the day. The visitors had the chance to cut the deficit on their last drive of the first half but Aguyo struggled once again and missed an easy 31 yarder.
The defense took over for the first half of the third quarter until Bucs' offense arrived in field goal range with the same strategy they used in the first half and Aguayo this time didn't miss the 27 yards FG. The Chargers didn't react in the way their fans supposed they would do, in fact Rivers threw his first interception of the game inside their 10 yards, ball has been picked off and returned for TD by the ROLB Lavonte David. The hometeam got back on track on the last drive of the quarter thanks to Melvin Gordon who initiated the drive with beautiful runs that opned up the play action pass to Williams that has beaten Grimes on a corner route that resulted in a touchdown. The fourth quarter ha sbeen all Tampa Bay, they scored 11 unaswered points, the first 3 came on Aguayo 35 field goal, the following 8 on a Cameron Brate's reception on a double move that resulted in the game winning TD then the visitors tried a 2 point conversion with success thanks to a Mike Evans reception. The Chargers had their chance to tie the game on the last drive of the game but Rivers once in Buccaneers' territory made an huge mistake throwing the ball to Inman well covered by Tandy who got the interception that ended the game.
