NHL Western Conference 2018 second round playoffs

PRESENTATION OF SERIES
The first of the two series of the Western Conference sees the Las Vegas Golden Knights face the San Jose Sharks in what is the series in my opinion more difficult to decipher of all seen that both come from the net 4-0 in the first round and have changed their way of playing seen in the regular season during the first series of playoffs. The interesting thing in this series is to see if the Knights will be able to maintain the same physicality seen against the Kings and if the Sharks manage to impose their game from the beginning of the game as against the Ducks. key factors in this series are the experience in the playoffs of the Sharks and their mental retention as opposed to hunger and the desire to "revenge" of all the Knights players declared not indispensable by their old teams and left for Vegas.
The second series in my opinion is the one that will be more spectacular from the point of view of the attacks and the pace of play and will see the reigning champions of the Western Conference the Nashville Predators defend their status against the excellent Winnipeg Jets. Nashville struggled a bit more than expected in the first round against the Avalanche especially in home games while Winnipeg got rid of Minnesota with a 4-1 net. It will be interesting to understand if the Predators will manage to maintain that level of play in a difficult field like Winnipeg while on the other side the Jets will be called to the 9th test with regards to their explosive attack since their opponents will be the defense of Nashville and Pekka Rinne, a duo not at all easy to overcome.

DEEPENING

Nashville Predators vs. Winnipeg Jets (2-2)

GAME 1

With the Predators with the advantage of the field factor Winnipeg had to play the first game at the Bridgestone Arena where he immediately made it clear, our attack works and how! Immediately in the first period with a goal by Tanev, an advantage legitimized on the ice from the level of construction of the game and then expanded in the second period with the goals of Statsny and Scheifele who laid out the hosts, the same landlords who after a while more than a minute in the third period have tried to start the comeback with a goal by Kevin Fiala that unfortunately for them was an end in itself since Hellebuyck and company were no longer surprising. Finally, Scheifele always thought of it with a empty net goal to send race 1 in the annals with a clear and well-deserved 4-1.

GAME 2

The champions of the western forced to win for not having to be called to the very complicated undertaking to win two in Canadian land have given life to a battle and an epic match, full of twists and beautiful goals. The first to take the lead were the hosts after 27 seconds with Ryan Johansen reached and then overtaken in the first period by two goals in rapid sequence by Byfuglien and then the usual Scheifele in power play. Nashville's reaction in the second period was excellent and thanks to it they managed to overturn the game again with a power play goal by PK Subban and a counterattack goal by Arvidsson. The third period was a continuous emotion, a blow and response between two great teams, the first was Tanev's equalizer goal which lasted 30 seconds before Johansen brought the team back to the yellow jersey. When everything seemed to go in the direction of Tennessee once again thought Scheifele one minute from the end to send everything overtime, an overtime obviously was not enough and we had to go to the second where Fiala after 5:37 managed to beat Hellebuyck and to equalize the series.

GAME 3

If the emotions of race 2 were not enough, then race 3 has given away so many more with the Predators in front in the first period for 3-0 dominating far and wide with the goals in sequence of Fisher, Subban and Watson. When the game seemed compromised for the Canadians, they thought about Statsny, Trumpet and twice Byfuglien to overturn it, despite four unanswered goals the Predators found the strength to tie it up at the beginning of the third period with a goal with a goal in power play of Forsberg but from there it was a domain of the jets that with a shotgun of Wheeler and a goal of tanev took the lead 2-1 in the series.

GAME 4

Race 4 after a series of high-scoring games saw the kingdom of the goalie and in particular of Rinne who saw the shoutout vanish just 51 seconds from the end thanks to a power play goal Laine that was vain since Nashville managed to Winnipeg break with a high level defensive performance and thanks to the goals of Hartman in the first period and Subban in power play in the second.

MEANWHILE IN THE WEST...

LV Golden Knights 2 SJ Sharks 2

The series is in total balance and neither team has managed to win two races consecutively since: game 1 went to the Knights with a very clear 7-0, race 2 to the Californians with an exhilarating 4-3 in double overtime, race 3 to the Nevada team with another 4-3 this time in an overtime and finally the draw came in series of Sharks with a 4-0 net in race 4.
