Important milestones in early May

The beginning of the month of May for the MLB has been full of important events but undoubtedly the withdrawal from baseball played by Ichiro Suzuki and the number 3000 in career of Albert Pujols deserve prominence, deserve prominence because in the first case it closes an era while in the second we continue to achieve goals that in very few in the history of baseball can say they have achieved.

Ichiro born October 22, 1973 in Kasugai in Japan, he landed in MLB at age of 28 with the Seattle Mariners after an experience at Orix BlueWave in the championship of the rising sun, his rookie campaign was amazing, started with the promise to Randy Johnson to keep up the honor of the number 51 jersey assigned to him by the front office and finished with an All Star game, the MVP title of AL, the rookie of the year and the record of beats valid for a player in the first year registering well 242. The traits that have distinguished the career of the Japanese and for which we remember him are certainly a style of joke with the ritual of pulling up his sleeve to say the least unique that anyone at least once tried to imitate, a speed out of the box of lightning joke due to his position as a left-handed batter and his speed that allowed him to get many infield singles during his long career. One of the few things that he has always missed was the ring and when he was traded in the Yankees in 2012 it was in order to win, which unfortunately he did not arrive and after two years in pin-stripes he landed at the Marlins more what else from pinch hitter and from substitute in left external to Ozuna or Yelich considering the advanced age. Earlier this year he signed a contract with Mariners to be able to withdraw from player (player) with the shirt that had launched in the world of the majors, until the news of this May 3 that sees him leave for now or as quais all they think definitely the baseball played, it is hard to think of a return to the next spring training since it will have the venerable age of 45 years and a half. He left an indelible legacy behind him made up of 3080 valid beats in MLB and 1278 in Japan played with 509 stolen bases (MLB) and 199 (Japan) and the title of the strongest Nippon beater ever.

The other player we will talk about today is exactly the opposite of Ichiro because he is physically dominant (until they have held his knees) and prefers homerun to infield single, I'm obviously talking about The Machine Albert Pujols drafted by the Cardinals in 1999 to the thirteenth tour with the called number 18 and ended up being the strongest player of this era and perhaps of all time. When we talk about Pujols we need to talk about his records (too many to be able to cite all) but the fear that especially in the years of St. Louis incessive pitchers opponents, have always tried all against him including the intentional walk when it happened to beat by leadoff (very rare) but nothing because he was not a sprinter but he was taught by Lou Brock how to run the best on the bases, which gave him an extra dimensionality. The first Dominican base was a difference maker in and out with his association and on my trip to St. Louis I always listened to the stories of the locals about how Albert managed to maintain a humility and humanity out of the ordinary for a player who won everything and now as well as a ring with the Angels point to the all time record of: homerun, RBI and total bases. This May 5, he beat his valid number 3000 with a single field opposite the Marines entering history not only to be the thirty-second player to reach that number but also to be the fourth in history to do so with more than 600 homerun. To define the size of this player is not enough the numbers you have to see him play live and I had this honor and privilege, because it is from the terror "sport" in the eyes of the fan of the opponent when he showed up joke that you understood how strong it was and I will never forget that World Series 3 race when Arlington put KO Rangers alone with 3 homersun with Texas fans who disconsolate abandoned the plant with the air of those who "against this when it is fit you do not play ". I hope for the good of baseball that I can still play a good few years to be able to say that I have witnessed the history of the centenary game of baseball once again.
