UFC 205: Woodley vs Thompson recap and analysis

The co-main event of UFC 205 saw Tyron Woodley defend his welterweight title against Stephen Wonderboy Thompson, in the first both fighter have been waiting for the move of their opponent to try to counterattack, this continue until Woodley took down his opponent and landed some heavy hits from the dominant position. In the second round there have been some heavy exchange of hits, especially with their boxing skills where thanks to the reach advantage Thompson landed the majority of the hits, in the third round both fighter continued to exchange hits standing but both of them have started to feel the fatigue of the early rounds, that's why they haven't been able to keep the guard up but none of them took advantage of it. In the fourth round the grappling skills of Woodley have had the best of Thompson because thanks of them he came so close to end the match in his favor first with a guillotine then with two overhand punches landed right on his opponent's chin who didn't give and continue to fight. In the fifth and last round with the scoreboard result uncertain Thompson have kept the center of the octagon keeping the champion on distance with his kicks and when Woodley tried to close the distance they exchange some punches but none has been able to KO the other, just Thompson got hurt and started to bleed from the nose. The fight went to the judges score and the decision has been one of the most balanced decision in UFC history because after two judges who gave the tie the third one gave the win to Woodley 48-47.
