Denver scored on their 1st chance on offense on a 24 yards fade route to Demaryius Thomas that even if he was well covered by the tall CB Sean Smith he has been able to catch the ball in the endzone thanks to the perfect pass by Manning, the Broncos arrive on KC 24 yards due to so many runs by Anderson being aknoledge that KC's defense is 1 of the best against the passes. Denver's defense able to stop Chiefs' offense again because they forced Smith to pass the ball in a obvious pass situations exposing himself to well designed blitzes especially by SS TJ Ward who sacked him together with RE Ware and forced KC to punt the ball. Starting in Chiefs territory Denver put up another drive similar to the 1st one and they scored another 3rd down receiving TD this time to CJ Anderson on release route coming out the backfield beating the weak coverage of LOLB Houston who never had a chance against him 1 on 1. KC has been thrown off the field again in the same way for the 3rd straight time, the only difference has been that this time the well designed blitz came from inside and Carter has been the player to sack Smith on 3rd down. The Chiefs has been able to stop Denver for the 1st time in the game but the wasted everything accepting a penalty during the punt and let the Broncos repeat it but this time Denver made a gutsy play snapping directly the ball to a guy who was covering the punter and they run the ball beyond the 1st down line finishing to bring Barth on the field to kick a FG. With 3:02 left in the 1st half the Chiefs finally reached the endzone with Fasano who received a pefect pass by A.Smith on a vertical seem after a very good balanced drive where Charles found some holes to run effectively. KC's inability to stop Denver's offense continue but at least they avoid to take a TD but they forced again Connor Barth to came on the field to kick another FG. KC's defense started so well the 2nd half with a very good coverage down field that let Houston turn the corner and made Manning fumble the ball that has been recovered by KC, this takeaway lead Santos kick a FG to reduce the deficit. Denver's defense made an huge break to stop momentarily KC's comeback with DT Knighton who made a great job to deflect Smith's pass at the line of screemage and then Ware made an head's up play intercepting it and took it on KC's 13 yard line but again Broncos' offense has been inaccurate on redzone and they have been limited to just the 3rd FG of the night. Broncos' special team made a great recover on KC 38 yard line after a very short punt that hit 2 Chiefs players and became alive. Again the Broncos have been unable to score a TD for the same reason of last time they were in the same position. Alex Smith took the weight of his team on his shoulder building a great drive full of short passes (the one he preferes) and the last 1 made Charlesscore a receiving TD 1 on 1 outside against CB Carter who hasn't been able to tackle him before he reached the endzone but they failed the 2 point conversion to mae it a 1 possession game tryin a difficult high slow pass intended to Fasano. Broncos after a good start of the drive again the slow down near KC's redzone and Barth had to kick his 5th FG of the night. Broncos defense forced a quick 3 and out with great pressure of the edges that didn't give Smith the necessay time to find his receivers down field. The last Chiefs comeback attempt has been badly wasted by Avery who fumbled the ball after a good gain. Even if KC offense has not been built to play the no huddle offense in a obvious pass situation they made good things but the receiving core is not a solid group they can rely on it, also not tafgeting Bowe has been a bad mistake because i think he still a good WR and with a different QB/ offensive sistem he should comeback to play at high level.
The Chiefs have been a so bad on 3rd down conversion, it happened because the interior part of Broncos defense limited Charles to just short gains and this forced Smith to do what he usually don't want to do pass out of the shotgun in a obvious pass situation, on defense KC made a very good good against an awesome offense and especially against the passes they have been tough putting pressure with their 2 pro bowlers OLBs Houston and Hali who made a great battle with Clady and Vasquez every single snap.
The Broncos improved so much in running game thanks to the improvement of their line and with the very good and quick Anderson who run the ball and receive in a great way. Manning has not been awesome but he made a good job to don't exaggerate passing the ball too much and avoiding to make turnovers. On defense the outplayed KC offense all game long thanks even to the great blitzing knowledge of defensive coordinator Del Rio, Miller Ward and Ware played a great game putting an huge pressure on Smith, Demarcus Ware seemed to be back at his golen times showing great agility and power to result simply unstoppable unless he got double teamed but if double team him Von Miller will make you pay and this is why Broncos defense is special, they can put huge pressure even without massive blitzes, that's why i give my MVP trophy to Demarcus Ware.
