Oregon started with the ball and they decided to run it inside the tackles for the most part of their drive even with designed QB runs, when AZ defense played committed to the run Mariota understood it and moved the ball on the air the 1st time with for Carrington and the 2nd time intended to Marshall on a fly route but he mossed a difficult one handed catch on the endzone, AZ's defense force Oregon to kick a FG for the 1st 3 points of the game. AZ tried to get a big return but Neal fumbled the ball on his 37 yard line. AZ defense put on the field another solid defensive series and limited again Oregon to kick a FG, Mariota helped out the Wildcats defense with poor accurancy on a pair of decisive passes. Oregon almost scored for their 3rd straight drive but they failed a 4th down conversion on AZ 25 yard line with Mariota who mae a bad decision tryin to hit his favorite target Carrington in the endzone well covered by the AZ's safety who missed a pick six. Wildcats' offense has been unable to move the ball efficientely for the 2nd straight time due to a very good Ducks' defense who conceded anything to them. Oregon started with a good fied position and they let their RB Freeman to run the ball for the majority of the offensive plays in that drive, he had good gains on the ground even due to an improvement of his o-line who beat the tough Az' front 7, Oregon came close to score a TD but they fell a yard short of it and after a false start on a 4th down conversion that forced them to try a FG badly missed by Shneider.AZ continued to struggle and Buckner sack forced them to another quick 3 and out. On the following drive Oregon got the ball on AZ's midfield and they reached the AZ's 10 yards due to a pass interference by Brewer on Nelson who let Mariota scored the game 1st TD on a well designed read option. Mariota's 1st big play of the game has been an huge one with 74 yards strike on a vertical seem on the slot for WR Nelson who has been tackled on AZ's 11 yard line, after that big play Mariota scored his 2nd rushing TD of the game on a similar run who let him score the 1st one. The ducks stop Solomon and his offense in a very short time and gave the chance to Mariota to increased the lead and he has been so good to drive his offense down the field to let his kicker to kick the 23-0 FG that ended the 1st half, a 1st half dominated by the Oregon front 7.
The 2nd half started with AZ in possession of the ball with a new QB on the field, Scroggins entered in the game at the place of a disappointing Solomon. Even with a new QB the results have been the same with AZ unable to pass the ball at all and also with huge difficulties due to the amazing Oregon front 7, they lost the ball at mid fieldtryin to convert a 4th down with a draw. Mariota probably killed the game leading his offense to another TD this time he founded WR Allen on the back on the endzone after he had lot of time in the pocket to choice the right target.AZ reaction came with Scroggins who broke the pressure escaping from the pocket and found WR Jones wild open for the 1st AZ TD of the game, a huge mistake has been committed by the Ducks' secondary who completely missed the coverage on Jones. Mariota re-estabilished the previous lead with a perfect drive characteryzed by 2 big plays to his WR Carrington, the 1st one a back shoulder catch on a fly route well covered by the CB and the 2nd one on a crossing route in the endzone to end the drive with a score. croggins again tried the big play but CB Dargan made his 11th career interception to write the word end to the Wildcats' hopes to comeback even because Mariota scored his 3rd rushing TD of the game on a well executed read option on the following drive. Oregon just managed the rest of the game to keep the very large lead that they built in the 1st 2 and a half periods. Arizozna has been outplayed in every situation of the game all game long by a very determinated Oregon team who shown all the will of revenge for their last defeat against the Wildcats, AZ has been heavly conditionated by a bad o-line who never gave a chance to run and pass the football, their defense started so well able to contain Mariota but the number of possession by the Ducks literally tired them out and after the 1st quarter they let Mariota plays his football who has been great to target every of his receivers and with his 5 total TDs in the game he is my MVP of the game along with the entire Oregon front 7 who dominated the game and gave their offense so many possessions.
