Cincinnati Reds: a season that is taking off

The Cincinnati Reds after the historic start ... in the negative with a record of 3-15 that cost the place to manager Byan Price in favor of Riggleman a veteran especially of the minors that at the beginning sounded more like a clear sign of wanting to save money considering the team for nothing competitive and the season compromised. After a start that led to assume that nothing had changed given the lack of dignity 5-11 record the new manager was able to reverse the route turning the Reds into a mine loose for anyone, ask the Dodgers or Cubs both "swept" at home . Riggleman was not only able to make the changing room a more serene work environment and eliminate the clutches between players and coach that were with the Price management but managed to make the pitchers better and better and to better manage the bullpen . The strong point of this team is a lineup that can boast many hitters with a fairly high average and able to go on fairly frequently basis for which Cincinnati is positioned fifth in the average batting and third in the OBP throughout the MLB and these are statistics which greatly shortens the duration of the games of starting opponents pitchers, a statistic in contrast with the current trend that sees more and more homerun and strikeouts but that is paying off its fruits. The undisputed leader is Joey Votto but the best hitters in terms of efficiency this year are Scooter Gennett and Eugenio Suarez, two players who seem finally blossomed of which the first in my opinion deserved to leave the All Star game as 2B holder. As for the pitchers the trade that saw Mesoraco go to the Mets in exchange for Harvey has helped a lot to the rotation of the franchise in red, because even no longer being the phenomenon that brought the Mets to the World Series is proving to have got back on track and malignamente the first thought goes to his long evenings in the big apple that had also led him to be put out of team. In a group that is struggling and not just to be under the 5 of ERA Mahle with his 3.66 is proving to be the number one in the rotation and one of the few remaining in the department that is costing the franchise of Ohio postseason or at least the possibility of competing for it. The bullpen is divided into two parts: those who do very well see Hughes, Iglesias, Floro and Hernandez and those who do very badly like: Finnegan, Brice and Peralta. The pitchers who are doing better are those of the so-called "last innings" very important for anyone but especially for a team that has starters capable of at least 6-7 innings per starting thing that the Reds rarely manage to do and they take over the middle and long relievers who like the starters struggle to keep the game in balance and consequently the chances for late relievers are greatly reduced. So far this season Cincinnati has been one of the funniest teams to watch because they have a spectacular defense as well as some players like Hamilton, Barnhart (gold glover as last year's catcher) and Peraza. With a current record of 39-51 and 11.5 races late by Brewers but "sunny" 9.5 from last place in wild card there are some speculations that some (most likely Reds fans) would see them as possible participants in the playoffs via Wild Card. It seems to me very difficult considering the heavy deficit to be recovered and the many teams ahead of them in the standings and despite the momentum on their side I see it a very, very difficult undertaking. It is right to try but in my opinion the Reds do not have a solid rotation enough to guarantee another victory so important to fill the gap for the postseason why if I were in them at the trade deadline I would try to exchange a few hitters see Hamilton Schebler or even Votto to get at least a couple of good starting pitchers in order to be competitive from next year.
