NFL Superbowl 50: Carolina Panthers 10 Denver Broncos 24 recap and analysis

The Broncos started with the possession of the ball and thanks to an excellent playcalling an execution by all offense, their balanced approach let them arrive early inside the Panthers redzone where Carolina's defense put enough pressure on Manning to stop them and limit the damage to just 3 points due to McManus field goal. The first offensive possession for Newton resulted in a total disaster with the Panthers' QB sacked and stripped of the ball by Miller while he was standing in the shotgun, the ball finished in the end zone where Malik Jackson recovered it and score the first TD of the game. Panthers' struggle on offense that would have gone three and out even on the following possession if it wouldn't be for a silly taunting penalty against Talib after a failed 3rd down conversion, fortunately for Denver their rivals have been stopped again close to midfield where they punted the ball, the Broncos offense played too safe on first 2 downs without gaining any yardage, on 3rd down a blitz by the MLB Kuechly found an huge hole and sacked Manning for a loss of 8 yards. Panthers offense finally got back on track and started to move the ball downfield thanks to a Brown out route catch and some undesigned runs by Newton who read well the holes in the defense, once closer to the end zone Stewart took care of the pigskin jumping over the lines for a 1 yard rushing TD from the I formation. After some very good sequences by both defense the Broncos scored again 3 points on another field goal thanks to a 61 yards punt return (All time record in a SB) by Norwood who brought his team deep in Panthers territory but once there the Broncos just run the ball being easy predictable and easy to stop, they had another chance to score in the first half thanks to a great run by Anderson who escaped some tackles due to great block by his o-line even downfield but  DE Ealy made a key interception when he surprising dropped in zone coverage.  

The second half started with the 45 yards reception on a slant route by Ginn that brough them inside the Broncos' territory where after on the drive Gano missed a 44 yards field goal hitting the right goal post, Denver started in a very good field position and the good connection between Manning and Sanders especially on slant routes let them arrive in the Panthers redzone where they have been stopped again by a very good Carolina's defense forcing McManus again to kick a field goal to extend their lead to 9 points. Corey Brown lead the charge for his team with a great catch on a vertical route for over 40 yards but again once in Broncos' territory Newton pass to Ginn deflected by Talib got picked off by Ward, on the following possession Denver seemed to could score again but once across midfield Ealy sacked Manning for the third time forcing a fumble recovered by Thomas Davis, their offense took advantage of this possession moving the ball well on the ground with Stewart who had 2 good runs for first down before Gano made his first field goal of the game. With 5 minutes left in the game Newton got the ball to win the game but Miller beat Remmers and forced a fumble recovered by Ward few yards away of Carolina's end zone, once there Denver closed the game out with an Anderson rushing TD on a dive run from the I formation and with a 2 points conversion on the air with Benny Fowler.
